School Library

Deutsche Schule Melbourne has a great selection of books, CDs, DVDs and TipTois in German, English and French.

School Library

Every week, students will visit the library for a lesson. During that time, books can be borrowed, and Children are encouraged to read both in German and in English, with further foci on taking turns to read to others, creating recommendation for others, and learning about how a library operates. All students will automatically be registered with an account when joining the school, up to five items can be borrowed for up to two weeks, with extensions possible. We encourage students to borrow both German and English books.
Our library kindly welcomes (grand-)parent helpers! The library will also be open to students on two weekdays during lunch, as well as one afternoon after pick-up.

Goethe Onleihe

Furthermore, we would like to encourage parents and students to use the free 'Onleihe' platform provided by the Goethe Institut. The Goethe Institut has more than 35,000 German e-books, audio books, movies and materials for German language learners. German magazines and newspapers are available for download.

Scholastic Book Club

To further encourage our students in their reading, our school participates in the Scholastic Book Club. The Book Club offers carefully curated selections of levelled books for primary school aged children and is a great resource for parents looking for books in English. The books span a wide range of children’s reading levels and interests. Scholastic sends catalogues that will be distributed in the school for students to take home. The school earns Scholastic Rewards on all book orders which will be used for the school’s library and teaching materials.
