Deutsche Schule Melbourne is a not-for-profit incorporated association with around 120 members. Members support the success of the school in various ways. They are involved in different working groups or committees, support school events or are members of the board.
Annual membership fees are $25. You can find the application form here. The application form can either be emailed to secretary@dsm.org.au or dropped off at the office. For membership renewals, please use this form.
Organisations can support the school directly by entering a sponsorship agreement. For further details please contact our Business Manager.

Boris Bielert (Chair)

Boris is a highly capable leader with over 20 years of experience in organisational leadership, business development and operations in domestic and international markets, complemented by a legal practice background. He has worked in multi-national companies, medium-sized businesses, and, more recently, a start-up which he helped to scale up to a large, highly profitable and rapidly growing enterprise. His professional journey has spanned a variety of industry sectors including technology, legal & professional services, and premium retail and manufacturing. This experience has provided Boris with a broad perspective, a refined skill set, and a deep understanding of different business environments, all of which is valuable and relevant for DSM.

Bertram Dürr (Board Secretary)

Bertram is a Commercial Director at Immersive Realities, a Melbourne-based company focused on Extended Reality and AI solutions. He also serves on the Supervisory Board of Reimann Investors, a Munich-based family office, and co-owns Infinite Digital, an impact investment firm supporting sustainability-focused startups in Germany. With a background in environmental engineering and an MBA from Melbourne Business School, he brings experience in governance, ESG, and business strategy across regulated industries. A DSM parent since 2015, he has supported the school community through various volunteer roles and is passionate about fostering strong communication and collaboration to help DSM thrive.

Simona John von Freyend
|
Simona holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Hamburg and has extensive experience across academia, healthcare, and business management. Notably, she played a strategic role in the development of the Victorian Heart Institute, a multidisciplinary research institute, integrated into Australia’s first dedicated cardiac hospital, the Victorian Heart Hospital. With her consultancy background, she has successfully managed projects for biotech companies and overseen business planning, strategic development, and international team leadership in science and technology services. She is well-versed in working within regulated environments and has a deep understanding of governance practices, gained from roles in both corporate and community organisations. She is dedicated to supporting DSM’s growth and governance, particularly as the school expands its offerings to meet the needs of an internationally diverse student body.

Armin is a registered architect in Australia with a Dipl. Ing (FH) in Architecture from the University of Applied Science in Oldenburg, Germany. He is currently a director at his own architecture company after having spent 18 years in various high-profile firms in Melbourne. His interests are in risk management and infrastructure.

Maresa Seabrook
|
Dr Maresa Seabrook is a senior People and Culture executive with extensive leadership experience across higher education, professional associations, global organisations, and the not-for-profit sector. She currently serves as General Manager – People, Capability, Culture and Wellbeing at the Law Institute of Victoria, where she leads organisation-wide strategy, workforce transformation, and governance for a 21,000-member peak body. Maresa brings deep expertise in strategy, governance, workforce planning, and organisational transformation, gained through senior roles at RMIT University, Netcraft, and Charles Darwin University. She holds a PhD from the University of Sydney Business School and two master’s degrees, and has led large-scale change initiatives in complex, regulated environments, aligning people strategy with organisational performance and sustainability. A bilingual German-English speaker with a strong personal connection to German education, Maresa is passionate about supporting DSM’s strategic growth, governance, and community.

Goeran Sell
|
Goeran Sell is Cluster Manager Energy at the German–Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Melbourne. He is a qualified lawyer and holds an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen, complemented by training in systemic organisational development. Before moving to Australia, he spent more than ten years as Managing Director of a municipal infrastructure and tourism organisation in Germany. In this role, he was responsible for strategy, energy, water and infrastructure matters as well as regional development initiatives, including projects focused on energy transition and sustainable transformation, among them EU-funded pilot projects on the decarbonisation of island energy systems. Alongside his professional career, Goeran was actively involved for many years as a coach in youth and elite swimming, including work in the environment of the Olympic Training Centre in Leipzig. As the father of a child attending DSM, he also has a strong personal connection to the school. He is particularly passionate about bilingual education, supporting young people in becoming open-minded and interculturally competent global citizens, and the role of DSM as an important part of the German–Australian community in Melbourne.

Eva is a globally experienced marketing and communications leader with a passion for building strong communities, meaningful connections, and inclusive cultures. Having lived and worked across Australia, the US, and Europe, she brings a broad international perspective together with a collaborative and people-focused approach. As a former parent and active member of the DSM community, Eva has been involved in volunteering and supporting school initiatives and values the unique bicultural environment DSM provides for students and families. She is passionate about contributing to the long-term strength and vibrancy of the school community.
