DSM Sekundarschule

In the spirit of openness and transparency, which we deeply value at DSM, we would like to acknowledge the disappointing setback in our journey towards becoming a Foundation to Year 12 bilingual school offering a combination of the Victorian and German Curricula.

Our planned renovation of existing facilities to create Secondary learning spaces couldn’t proceed because the long-term leasing arrangements required to support the investment were not available. The development and implementation of the Secondary School learning model were discontinued, as specialist facilities, for example a dedicated science room, would be required to support future curriculum delivery. As a result, we were unfortunately unable to offer a Year 7 class.

Importantly, DSM’s current lease is unaffected by this decision, with an option to remain at the premises until 2034. This means we’re safe and secure as we explore other options for a future Secondary School and, ultimately, a new DSM campus.

We recognise this delay has been deeply disappointing for families and staff and sincerely apologise to everyone whose plans for schooling and even housing have been affected.

At the same time, we have been incredibly impressed by our community’s resilience in navigating this challenge, and grateful for the understanding so many have shown. While this development has delayed our timeline, it has not changed our long-term vision. DSM remains committed to creating an outstanding bilingual Secondary School built on strong educational foundations and long-term sustainability. We are actively exploring new site/leasing options and will continue to keep our community informed as soon as meaningful progress can be shared.
