Deutsche Schule Melbourne is looking for a primary school teacher with focus on individual needs to join our independent bilingual primary school in Fitzroy North, Victoria.

Your profile:
After highly successful completion of tertiary studies with a focus on special needs teaching, you have gained several years of experience as a special needs teacher in primary schools. Ideally, you have lived in different cultural environments, are familiar with teaching children from varied language backgrounds and have experience in teaching German as a second language. You are passionate about each student’s learning, and your teaching approach effectively caters for students with disabilities and individual needs. You are a team player with an excellent ability to establish trusted relationships with students, parents and colleagues alike. You enjoy being part of a dynamic work environment and are motivated by the opportunity to play an active role in the development and growth of Deutsche Schule Melbourne.

Profile of ideal candidates:

  • Minimum of four years of education with focus on special needs teaching
  • University degree with excellent grades
  • German or English at a native speaker-level; highly fluent in the other language (e.g. IELTS Academic 7.5+)
  • Experience working in bilingual school environments and with highly individualised teaching approaches
  • Australian work rights and Victorian teaching registration or willingness to attain them

Deutsche Schule Melbourne delivers German-English bilingual education for families who value the benefits it offers. The vision for children at DSM is to grow up learning two languages at the same time, preparing them to become involved citizens of the world.  Established 11 years ago, DSM offers bilingual primary school education from Foundation Year to grade 6, with classes taught both in English and German.
