Deutsche Schule Melbourne is proud of its vibrant parent community. Families from diverse backgrounds join the school and supplement school life by taking part in a variety of activities.
The school community organises events like the annual DSM Christmas Market, gets involved in Open Days and organises special occasions for the children, such as welcome BBQs, carnivals, Bonfire Night or German Movie Nights, just to name a few. Parents may get involved and support student learning by joining the one-on-one reading program, helping in the school library or with interschool competitions.
Class Parent Representatives are an important link between the DSM families and our school. All Representatives are volunteers who wish to take on a more active and supporting role within our school community. They help strengthen the bond between the parents and the class teachers, and will enhance the students’ experience at school. The individual Class Parent Representatives are selected from each class and are actively involved in creating opportunities for the classes and community to come together during the school year, working together with their class teachers. These occasions could be social, sporting & fundraising events and other school celebrations.
