Whilst Deutsche Schule Melbourne is an independent school, it could not exist without the generous support of our partners, the German churches in Melbourne and the Victorian, Federal Australian and German Governments.  We are deeply grateful for this support.

The German-Lutheran Trinity Church in East Melbourne and the German-Catholic St. Christophorus Parish in Camberwell are the founding partners of DSM.  Both churches enabled the start-up of the school with substantial loans and non-monetary support.

The Victorian and Australian Federal Governments support the school on an on-going basis through their independent school funding schemes.  In addition, DSM benefited from the 'Building the Education Revolution' capital funding program in 2009/10.

Deutsche Schule Melbourne is one of currently 135 German International Schools. The Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen (Central Agency for German Schools Abroad) provides financial support and advice.  The agency is also responsible for seconding teachers from Germany to German schools abroad. Currently, one teaching position at DSM is funded by the German Government.

The school is one of the partner schools in the policy initiative “Schools: Partner of the Future”. This initiative was started in February 2008 by the German Department of Foreign Affairs. Its aim is to build  a worldwide network of more than a thousand partner schools to inspire young people’s interest in, and enthusiasm for, the modern Germany, its society and its language.
